We're no stranger to reviewing and selling low profile reels here at Nihon Shipping, and the Calcutta Conquest 100 from Shimano is one of the best we've seen in recent years.
This is a fast-moving world of low-profile offerings, and trends and styles do change - what's in favour one year can change the next! What we see with Shimano is a trumping of that trend. This is a carefully machined piece of angling artwork, and it's very telling of Shimano's popularity that the global community raised their voices when the line was planned to be discontinued. Thankfully, they didn't do that and we're here today with one of the finest low-profile reels ever made available in our store.
A top-end Shimano reel is something to be experienced. They're beautiful in the hand and to the eye and have, in the case of reels like the Conquest 100, a striking aesthetic - pure, shining gold in this case.
Our opinion: We love the look and, obviously, the feel of the Conquest. There's zero play on the knobs and almost no backplay in the handle. New to this reel is Shimano's micro-module gearing system, which gives this beauty a buttery smooth retrieve. Everyone who tried this one agreed: we've never felt more connected to our bait and lines before.
