It's always nice to see known brands like Shimano come out with yet another excellent product, and the Curado DC 151 is no exception. This modern reel is host to a range of rather impressive features, such as its digital control braking system that actually incorporates a microcomputer into the reel to monitor spool speed at no less than a thousand times per second! The result? Spot on braking just when its needed - a real help in removing backlash and maximising the distance on your casts.
Four easy adjustments on the side plate of the Curado DC 151 make adjustments easy and hassle-free - gone are the days of thumbing around to adjust your preferred brake settings!
It's also quite smooth in use, thanks in part to the Micromodule Gear System and X-SHIP system, both of which make for rather seamless reeling. These valuable internals are protected by a very strong and rigid HAGANE body, as can be seen in a number of other trusted Shimano reels.
Our opinion: This reel is another quintessential Shimano product. Maximum distance casting with minimal backlash are the hallmark of this reel, and the smoothness of it in operation is impressive indeed thanks to the MicroModule feature. If you're getting serious about fishing and like the Shimano brand, this is a serious step-up investment to think about. It works, and we love it. Simple.
